Truth VS Lies
In the summer of 2018, I believe it was late July or early August, I was contacted via email by a gentleman by the name of David Bigelow. He had contacted me regarding the use of my Orca for his production and filming of a docu-series called Making the Monster. This naturally sparked a series of long emails over the coming weeks up until October of that very same year. These emails consisted of timelines, logistics, travel, time, and of course the docu-series itself. One of the KEY things said by Mr. Bigelow was that he had the funding and manpower to finish the Orca for me in order to start filming the docu-series in 2023. After these lengthy emails back-and-forth, I was under the impression that this was all a done deal. At some point in October, Mr. Bigelow stopped responding to my emails...I wrote this off as he was busy with preproduction and would contact me in due time.
Well, well, well, imagine my surprise on Thanksgiving Day to see on the Making the Monster FaceBook page that Mr. Bigelow has not only went and bought a boat, named the Lydia, but he has had it shipped to Martha's Vineyard as well and is calling it the Orca III. I was utterly shocked. This explained why I had not heard from Mr. Bigelow in almost a month. I immediately took screenshots on my phone and sent them to a friend of mine in a text saying, "WHAT THE HELL!?" This started a lengthy conversation between the two of us, and I was advised to wait until the next day to send an email to Mr. Bigelow inquiring these new events. As you can probably guess and imagine, I was pissed. I felt tricked, I felt backstabbed and I'd been, quite possibly, bamboozled. So, I partook in the Thanksgiving festivities, but the whole situation was now in the back of my mind. I just couldn't shake it off or out of my mind.
The next day, I wrote Mr. Bigelow an email and he did not respond for two weeks. When he did respond, he was very short and said, "...we decided to go in another direction, but we may need your boat too." Another direction? What does that mean?
Translation: I want to control the situation and I want to own the boat, and receive the recognition.
This was one of the rare times that I've ever lost my temper to the degree that I did that day.
